Peer Contacts:Trained peer contacts
offer support to newly bereaved families through phone calls, email,
written communication, and in person when applicable.

the Foundation provides parents, grandparents, and child care
providers a grief packet upon notification of an infant's death.
Children's grief materials are also available for surviving
siblings. The next peer contact training is scheduled for
Saturday, March 10, 2012. Please call 866-480-4741 for more

Support Groups:
Support groups meet across the state of Iowa.
Some groups meet on a regularly scheduled day, others are by
request. For more detailed information on available support
groups or to request a meeting,
click here. If you
do not see a SIDS support group near you, please contact the
Foundation and we will be happy to help locate an infant loss group
closest to you.
Newsletters:The
Iowa SIDS Foundation distributes a newsletter three times a year,
typically in March, July, and November. If you would like to
receive this mailing, email your request and complete mailing
address to info@iowasids.org
or call toll free, 866-480-4741. Electronic copies can be accessed
from the list available on the home page of this website.
Educational Materials;
A vareity of educational safe sleep mateirals
are available free of charge for Iowa families and providers.
Materials, including safe sleep packets, brochures, tear off sheets,
posters, and safe sleep educatioinal DVD may be requested by contacting the Foundation.

the above menu.
Products:

Additional referrals for other professional
services may be available upon request.
Sponsorship/Community Advocacy:
The Iowa SIDS Foundation has an educational
display that advocates safe sleep and risk reduction recommendation.
If you are aware of or planning a community health event or baby
fair, we be happy to attend, if possible, to promote the American
Academy of Pediatric's risk reduction recommendations and other safe
sleep materials.
Presentations:
Presentation or workshops on SIDS and safe
sleep can be tailored to any group or organization within Iowa
wanting to learn more about research models, risk reduction
recommendations and if applicable, a professional's role in the
event of a SIDS death. Staff or trained volunteers will work
with you to meet the training needs of your organization. For
